Introduction
 
This site is available to download environmental compliance documents for two distinct programs within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) proposed construction, maintenance and operation projects that are primarily on the northern border.  

This site includes Environmental Compliance documents for the modernization projects at CBP-owned Land Ports of Entry (LPOE) funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This site also includes Environmental Compliance documentation for projects at U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Stations along the northern border. LPOE and USBP are distinct programs. 
 
Land Ports of Entry (LPOE)
 
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Field Operations Facilities Program Management Office (FOF) is preparing Environmental Assessments (EAs) to identify and assess the potential environmental impacts associated with proposed modernization of CBP-owned Land Ports of Entry (LPOE) along the U.S./Canada international border and the U.S./Mexico international border (the Proposed Actions).  The LPOE modernization actions are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009.

CBP LPOE Environmental Assessments (EAs) for Public Review may be downloaded from this site. 

Steps for accessing CBP LPOE EAs for Public Review:

  1. On the left side of this web page, under Documents, simply click on the state then access the Environmental Assessment of your choice.  The Environmental Assessments for that state will be available for downloading. 
  2. Click on the selected Environmental Assessment and it will automatically open within the internet browser window.  Please note that the larger files may take several minutes to download, so please be patient. You may also view and download Environmental Assessments by right clicking the file and selecting "save target as." This will allow you to select where the file will be downloaded onto your computer, and will bring up a dialog box displaying the status and size of the download.

Beginning on June 16 and ending on July 15, 2010, the following LPOE Supplemental Draft Environmental Assessment is available for public and agency review and comment.

Beginning on June 23 and ending on July 22, 2010, the following LPOE Draft Environmental Assessment is available for public and agency review and comment.

Resolution of Adverse Effects on Historic Properties

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and pursuant to 36 CFR 800.6(a)(4) CBP has provided information on proposed mitigation measures to resolve Adverse Effects on Historic Properties resulting from proposed LPOE modernizations at:

    • Bridgewater, Maine

Fort Fairfield BPS - CBP signed the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on October 18, 2009 and the document was released on November 4, 2009.  The Final EA and signed FONSI for the Fort Fairfield BPS are posted and available to the public.  On the left side of this web page, under Documents, click on Maine and then select the Fort Fairfield document to view or download.
